Hip-hop Spellen Lessinz Fo' My Nigguz

Man, I really must be getting old and out of touch with what's cool, because I find myself getting more and more irked with many rappers' stubborn insistence on egregiously misspelling the simplest words in their album titles, song titles and their names. I really thought this was a very '90s phenomenon, and had become passe, but cleary that's not the case. Yeah, I understand, in most cases it's a fo'netic spelling of the way the words are pronounced in the vinacular 'an shit, but in a lot of instances, it's just more complicated than just spelling out the fucking word correctly and being done with it.

Case in point: I was listening to one cat named Medaphoar" the other day. His name seems to be a clever bastardization of the word "metaphor" - suggesting that this particular individual would like to be known for his wordplay skills. Don't get me wrong - the track was hot, but that's not my point. Maybe it was just the way he chose to eff up the spelling of the word that made me cringe. He could have gone with "Meta-for", or maybe even "Meta4" - that could have worked.
